8-29-22 - Looking Forward
Most of the time in my life, I'm a glass half empty kind of guy. If you don't know what that means, it means I'm a pessimist.
Some of you are probably asking Jay, what does this have to do with anything?
Well, it has to do a decent bit with my outlook on life. I typically am not very excited for much of anything these days, but every onece and a while something will be on its way that genuinely excites me.
I guess I really stopped getting excited for things because I would get disapointed a lot, but I think it also has to do with the fact that in my eyes, there isn't much left looking forward to. Things are pretty crappy these days, and a lot of games, movies, and art done these days is done for the sake of a job, meaning they're done without passion or love for a craft. When people are like that, I belive the product suffers, and by extension, the audience.
It is so incredibly painful to watch good proudcuts get destroyed while bad ones continue to dominate sales. In this case, I think the movie industry is currently the most depressing.
I won't even attempt to get into WB Discovery, that's a topic for another time. But what I will get into is how we're on the cusp of twelve-million friggin marvel movies, sequels and remakes up the ass, and we're just about to get shat on with a tidal wave of Avitar movies. Fuck me, why are we letting this happen?
I'm not here to answer that question, I'm just here to say, that though all of this trash, there is a light poking through of something I'm actually looking forward to. Knives Out Two.
I don't blindly hate sequels if it means that we'll get something good out of it; and in this case, I think we're going to be in for a good time. Something that makes you think, and engages you.
If you haven't seen the first one, man, quit wasting your time here, go and watch it! It is such a fantastic mystery movie, that is very well done.
So there, something I'm looking forward to. Another thing I'm looking forward to, Fugu Film by JCH.
For those not in the know, Japan Camera Hunter has announced a brand new color slide film. That's exciting for me because it means more film to shoot! They haven't given it a solid release date yet, but they say it will be this year, and I will hold them to it if I have to! (I've heard that they want to get it out by November.)
So, people are investing in a hobby of mine, more money and people interested in it means that more stuff will become available, making the hobby a lot better.
That means I've finally got a few things worth looking up to, I hope you do too, and as always...
Be cool, be wild, and be groovy!
