12-5-21 - Safety Town

I remember as a child going to a thing called safety town. It was this thing about teaching kids about being safe, usually in a town.

It taught you many things, like not drinking soap just because it has a lemon on it.

When to call 911, learning your home phone (remember when people had those?) just in case you got lost.

And... traffic safety.

Not just, when to cross the street, but like, they'd have us ride around in trikes and obeying red and green lights...

I think drivers education does a better job of teaching us that when it's more relavant, but okay.

It's such a strange memory to have, and such a strange thing to have done. But I guess it did its job.
